On the day
A private terminal, not the airline terminal
You fly from an FBO, a private terminal on the quiet side of the airport, with its own entrance and parking. Your itinerary shows its name and address, and your car can usually drive close to the aircraft.
Arrive about 30 minutes before
There are no airline check-in lines. Arriving 15 to 30 minutes before departure is usually plenty; allow more for international flights. The aircraft waits for you within reason, but crews have duty limits and airports have slot times.
ID and passports
Bring a government photo ID for every adult. For international trips, everyone needs a valid passport and any visas, and we send passenger details to the operator ahead of time, as U.S. Customs and Border Protection requires.
Bags
Soft bags fit best. Tell us about golf clubs, skis, bikes or anything oversized when you book, so we choose an aircraft with the space.
Pets
Many operators welcome pets in the cabin. Tell us about your pet when you book, and we confirm the aircraft's pet policy before you fly.
Wi-Fi
Many aircraft have Wi-Fi, but not all, and speeds vary. If Wi-Fi matters, tell us. Where an operator charges for usage, we tell you before you book.
Catering
Tell us what you would like, from coffee and snacks to a full meal, and we arrange it with a local caterer. Your itinerary shows when catering is on board.
Clear pricing
Your quote shows the aircraft, crew, fuel, taxes and standard fees. Anything that can change, such as de-icing, extra catering or international fees, is explained before you book.
Frequently asked questions
Does Heru Aviation own the aircraft?
No. Heru Aviation, LLC acts as an agent for its clients in arranging air charter and does not own or operate aircraft. All flights are operated by FAA Part 135 certificated air carriers, which hold operational control of every flight. We work for you, not for an operator, so we can recommend the best option for each trip.
How do you choose operators?
We use FAA Part 135 certificated operators rated by ARGUS or Wyvern, two independent safety auditors, and we review the aircraft and crew for every trip.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you can, especially for holidays and peak weekends. When plans are last-minute, call us: our advisors answer 24/7 and can often arrange a flight within hours, depending on availability.
What does a private flight cost?
Price depends mostly on the aircraft size and the flight time, plus fees, taxes and any repositioning of the aircraft. Tell us about your trip and we send clear options with prices.
What is an empty leg?
A flight an aircraft makes without passengers, for example to return home after dropping someone off. Empty legs can cost less, but their times and routes are set by the original trip and can change. Ask us when your plans are flexible.
Can I change my departure time?
Usually, yes. Tell us as early as possible and we work it out with the operator. Crew duty limits and airport hours can restrict late changes.
What if my trip is cancelled?
Cancellation terms depend on the operator and are set out in your charter agreement. We explain them before you book.
Can I bring my pet?
Often, yes. Tell us when you book, and we confirm the aircraft's pet policy with the operator before you fly.
Do I need the app?
No. Ascend by HERU makes it easy to book, follow your trip and keep your documents, but you can always reach us by phone or email instead.
How do I reach Heru during a trip?
Call +1 201-205-1200, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or message us from the trip in Ascend by HERU.
